Rocklin

Frieda Cohen, born Frieda Landau in 1937 in Bronx, New York, passed away on March 8, 2025, in Rocklin, California. She lived a life defined by love and devotion to her family, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Frieda was a proud graduate of Hunter College, earning her Bachelor's degree in Sociology. Following her marriage to Marvin Cohen, she embraced her role as a stay-at-home mom, raising her two children, Paula and Daniel. Frieda fostered a warm and encouraging environment filled with home-cooked family dinners, gatherings with friends, and adventurous vacations to beloved East Coast destinations such as the Catskills, Poconos, Vermont, Washington D.C., Atlantic City, and Florida.

Frieda's pride extended beyond her immediate family. She was a tireless caregiver, first for her father, William Landau, taking him into her home when he could no longer live independently, and later caring for her husband Marvin Cohen during his 14-year battle with cancer. Her selflessness and dedication were shining examples of her love and strength.

Frieda's nurturing spirit was evident in her support for her children’s endeavors, encouraging them to explore new experiences and face life’s challenges with confidence. In pursuit of closeness with her family, Frieda later made the bold decision to relocate from New Jersey to California, where she could be near her beloved children and grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Frieda cherished her close friendships, some dating back to her school days. She enjoyed dining out, listening to music, attending the theater, reading, and indulging in shopping. Her interests also included playing word games and video poker, showcasing her lively personality and zest for life. Being true animal lovers, Frieda and Marvin once welcomed a stray dog into their home, demonstrating their compassionate hearts.

Frieda leaves behind her loving children, Paula Cohen and Daniel Cohen, along with her daughter-in-law Nancy Cohen and her cherished grandchildren Steven Abramowitz and Scott Cohen. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Marvin; her mother, Pauline Schakler; and her father, William Landau. She will be profoundly missed by her immediate family, as well as by her circle of close friends who shared in her journey.

Frieda's legacy will live on through the many lives she touched with her unwavering love, spirit, and nurturing goodness. Her memory will forever resonate within the hearts of her family and friends.
