Frederick William Grumm, Jr

Frederick ""Fred"" W. Grumm Jr., passed away March 3, 2016 at the age of 74. Fred was born on February 13, 1942 in San Francisco, California to Frederick W. Grumm Sr. of Detroit and Helene F. Walter (Grumm) of San Francisco. Fred grew up in San Francisco's Sunset District, graduated Lowell High School, joined the Army National Guard and worked several years as a butcher for Safeway. In 1967, he married D.D. Wheatley of North Highlands, California. In 1973, Fred joined the Foster City Fire Department and he and D.D. had their only child, David, whom they raised to be an avid 49er fan. Fred served 26 years in the fire service and retired as Fire Captain in 1999. After relocating to Granite Bay, California, Fred enjoyed many pastimes with friends and family including golfing, fishing and motor-homing. Fred is preceded in death by his wife D.D. in 2012. He is survived by his son, David Grumm of San Francisco. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Valley Springs Presbyterian 2401 Olympus Drive, Roseville CA 95661.
