Evelyn Jean Morris passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of March 31, 2025. She is survived by her beloved son, Richard Stephen Jones; her sister, Dr. Elaine Morris; her brother, Steven Morris; her nieces, Andrea and Ashley Grooms; her great- niece and great-nephew; as well as her dear cousins, neighbors, and many cherished friends and neighbors in Sacramento and across the country.
Born and raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Evelyn came from humble beginnings but lived a truly remarkable life. She pursued higher education and dedicated 45 years of service to the United States Federal Government’s Office of Personnel Management, where she earned numerous commendations and the respect and friendship of many colleagues.
A passionate world traveler, Evelyn visited nearly every continent, always seeking new experiences and adventures. Even in her final weeks, she was making plans for her next journey. She had an immense love for life, embracing every moment with friends and family. An avid dog lover, she cared for more than five furry companions over the years.
Above all, Evelyn adored her son and wished for nothing more than his happiness, health and well-being. She was the beloved daughter of the late Gladys Roach Morris and Benjamin Morris and now reunites with them in peaceful rest, embracing the eternal journey with our Heavenly Father.
Her sister, Elaine, was a constant presence during Evelyn’s final year, spending every day with her and providing care in her last weeks and days. On March 31, 2025, Evelyn passed away after a courageous battle with a chronic illness that weighed heavily on her body and soul. Yet, her fiery spirit and deep love for life never wavered until she was called home by the grace of God. Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated, and her remains will be laid to rest alongside her mother and father in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her in this life.
