Liz Sotero of Sacramento, mother of three and wife of 37 years, died peacefully at home May 2 surrounded by family after an eight-year cancer battle. She was 58. Known as Liz to her friends and Betsy to her Reno family, she made the best of life, and her success humbles and strengthens those who knew her. She is remembered for love of family, optimism, fairness, common sense, practicality, laughter and bravery facing a terminal disease. Her last project was a handmade dress daughter Maria will wear at her October wedding. Survivors include husband, Ray; son James; daughter Sarah Holsinger, son-in-law Matt Holsinger and a beloved, precious grandchild, Loriah Rose; daughter Maria and fiancee Milad Davaloo; 12 siblings; and parents James and Patricia Walsh. On July 4th weekend, a celebration of life and internment of ashes will be held, as she requested, at Plumas Eureka State Park north of Truckee. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an education fund for Loriah Rose Holsinger, care of Ray Sotero.
