An open letter to you…

I was angry when you died.

I shouted at death like death could hear me.

I asked a thousand whys, all my questions were answered with silence.

Between the anger, there was heartbreak and disbelief when you took your last breath. This can’t be real. This can’t be my reality but it became one anyway, filled with grief. You were sick, you were broken, you were losing a battle that no one could fight, and I lost you. What once was can no longer be; and while the anger fades, wishing you were here never does.

You were such a character, one that many who knew you can never forget. A strong and stubborn personality till the very end; but now it’s time to rest. Rest yourself from all of the burdens you were subjected to, rest yourself from all of the challenges you faced, rest yourself from all of your struggles, rest yourself from all of the pain that took hold of you so aggressively, and decided to take your soul instead.

Adrian and I are truly left alone in this world without you but you can never be forgotten. May you forever rest in heavenly peace.

Mom.

Sister.

Grandmother.

Friend.

And now an angel.

You will never be forgotten.
