Edith Q. Tanguilig

September 25, 1961 — August 14, 2024

Edita “Edith” Marquez Quitain Tanguilig, 62, passed into eternal rest on August 14, 2024. A native of Batangas, Philippines, Edith was born on September 25, 1961, to the late Valentin and Luisa Quitain. She graduated high school from Canossa Academy before pursuing a nursing degree at the University of Santo Tomas, graduating in 1982. Edith devoted her career to providing love and care through nursing, and she extended the same compassion and kindness to everyone she met personally.

Edith arrived in the United States in October 1987 and began working as a registered nurse at Liberty Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1993, she met Tito Tanguilig, a resident physician, and their professional relationship grew into a loving and supportive marriage. They were blessed with three loving children and they  eventually relocated from Maryland to Florida, where Edith continued her nursing career at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and then later with The Florida Department of Education as a school nurse.

Upon retiring, Edith and her family moved to Rocklin, California, following Tito’s job opportunity. In retirement, Edith enjoyed her favorite hobbies: cooking, traveling, filling her home with music, and spending time with family and friends. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone she met, and she will be deeply missed.

Edith is survived by her husband, Tito; her children, Michael “Mike” and his wife Angela, Rachel, and Leah Andrea “Andie”; her sister, Lorna Subong (Quitain) and her husband Cesario Jr.; and a beloved extended family that includes her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, as well as a cherished group of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Valentin, mother Luisa, brother Rodelo Quitain, sister Emma Dapul (Quitain), father-in-law Luciano Tanguilig, mother-in-law Demetria Tanguilig, and sister-in-law Thelma Fontillas (Tanguilig).

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Sierra View Funeral Chapel, 6201 Fair Oaks Blvd., Carmichael, CA 95608, on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 6-8 PM.
