Douglas Richard Juarez Ii

October 23, 1962 — March 17, 2024

Douglas Richard Juarez II was born on Tuesday, October 23, 1962 at 2:09 pm in Sacramento, California to Douglas and Vivian Juarez (nee Carinio).

In addition to his parents, he was greatly influenced by his maternal grandparents, Vevincio & Maxine Carinio, and his Aunt Ethel & Uncle Richard. He spent a significant amount of time with cousins while growing up, and in adulthood, considered his cousin Wayne as close as a brother.

After graduating from Bella Vista High School, he attended American River College and worked at Taco Bell where he developed lifelong friendships through a fellow employee.

Doug enjoyed working on cars and did the maintenance on his own vehicles, as well as those of friends and family. He parlayed that love into jobs at auto/smog shops.

He married Charlotte Tannehill in 1991 and he became an instant father to her daughter, Jennifer. They had two children together: their daughter Chelsey and son Devin. He began working for the State of California in 1998 and later moved his family to Lake of the Pines.

Doug enjoyed camping, boating, riding his motorcycle, off-roading, target shooting, and celebrating special events with friends and family. He also spent time as a band member of 3 Beer Buzz, playing guitar and drums.

Doug and Charlotte separated in 2010 and divorced in 2018.

In June 2019, he invited a friend he had known for 30+ years, Lisa Swanson, to a dinner of sushi. It turned out to be their first date that never ended. In September 2021, Doug and Lisa decided to get married in June 2022.

However, in November 2021, Doug was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of colon cancer. So, the couple opted to move their wedding date up to Christmas Day 2021 so that Lisa could take time off work to accompany him to his infusions and to help care for him.

In July 2022, they were notified that the cancer had metastasized. They continued to take trips, camp, and spend time with friends and family while he continued treatment. Doug fought his battle valiantly and was always optimistic.

Doug retired from the Bureau of Automotive Repair in March 2024.

He was surrounded by his wife, his children, their significant others, and his former wife when he made his transition to Heaven on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, sister Deborah, and brother Sonny.

He is survived by his wife Lisa, her children, Sophia and Kristian Chavez; his children, Chelsey and Devin Juarez; bonus daughter, Jennifer Curtis; mother, Vivian Juarez; brother, Ricardo Juarez; stepmother Lupe Juarez; his former wife, Charlotte, several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

His infectious smile, sarcasm, laughter, and love of music will be missed. Doug was so well loved and had many very special friends. His biggest regret was that he wouldn’t be around to spend more time with his friends and family.
