Dorothy Day Sivard

November 26, 1925 — June 23, 2017

Dorothy Day Sivard, 91, of Fair Oaks, California, went home to be with the Lord on June 23rd, 2017. Dorothy, the daughter of the late Robert Earl and Vera Day Knouff, was born November 26th, 1925 near Quaker City, Ohio. Dorothy graduated from Old Washington High School in 1943, and at 20 years of age graduated from Muskingum University in 1947 with a B.S. degree in education, along with two teaching credentials. She was married in 1950 and lived in Ohio until 1962, when her husband, Lewis’s job brought them to California. While in Ohio, she taught kindergarten through sixth grade in Lorain, Lakewood, Zanesville, and Akron. In 1962, upon moving to California, she taught at Little Methodist School and at Christ Community Pre-School. Dorothy was very active at church and taught Sunday School for many years. She loved to travel, especially in their RV. She deeply loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Vereda Williams. She is survived by her husband, of over 66 years, Lewis Sivard. She is also survived by her daughter, Lewette and her husband Mike Wacker and their children, Carissa, Danelle and Derek as well as her son-in-law Lee Williams and his children Ryan and Kaylee. A celebration honoring Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday, July 21st at 1:30 PM at Christ Community Church, 5025 Manzanita Avenue, Carmichael, CA. Pastor Dave Stroder will officiate.
