Dorothy Maud Lane

November 28, 1923 — September 6, 2018

The Loving Memory of Dorothy Maud Lane My mother Dorothy Maud Lane passed away September 6, 2018 early in the morning in Sacramento, CA. She was 94 years old and she lived a long full happy life. She always had a smile and was kind to everyone. She was loved and will be missed by everyone. Mom was born in London, England on November 28, 1923. She had four brothers and sisters Robert, Peggy, Ethel and Freddy. Believe it or not she was the oldest sibling and the last one to pass away. Robert, Freddy and Ethel stayed in England and Peggy moved to Australia. Even though they all live far away from each other they all kept in touch and were the best of friends. Dorothy was married to my father Eugene Lane for 65 years. My dad passed away in April, 2009 at the age of 89. They met during World War II in London, England. They met in a large dance hall in London where they found each other through their love of dancing. It is hard to imagine my mother and father doing the Jitterbug but I guess they used to be really good from what her brothers and sisters told me many years ago. Mom and Dad had three children; Jean, Johnny and myself (Jeff). My oldest sister Jean died shortly after birth, my brother Johnny passed away several years ago. I am the only one left. I remember so many wonderful moments with my mother. She was always the loving mother to me and gave me a truly wonderful childhood. She was always there to help me out when I needed it and to teach me right from wrong. My mother loved to work her hands and made many wonderful works of art. She made macramé purses, decorated eggshells, ceramic dolls, plastic canvas crafts, and other projects. She also loved being involved with the Masonic women’s organization of Ila Neb where she dressed up and went to several different events and had a lot of fun with them. Mom also loved spending time with my father and I during our family vacations, most of which were spent driving in an old Chevy pickup truck with camper on the back. As this final chapter unfolds I truly feel blessed to have had my mom all of these years. Mom I miss you but I know you are in a better place now smiling down on us all.
