Dorothy Mae (Keelor) (Jones) Brandt, age 87, went to be with Jesus on Sunday May 17, 2015 after bravely battling dementia and a number of other ailments. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Harold Brandt of Sacramento, CA; brother, John Keelor of Florida; daughter Sue Durst of Sacramento, CA; sons Bob Jones, Jr. of Kingman, AZ and Tim Jones of Scottsdale, AZ; step-son, Steven Brandt of Sacramento, CA; 10 grandchildren and over a dozen great grandchildren. She was preceded to heaven by her son Danny Jones, parents Russell and Clara Keelor; and two brothers Russell and James Keelor. Most of her life, Dorothy was a homemaker and mother who had a passion for cooking mouth-watering foods for those she loved. During the '70's Dorothy owned Lorraine's Ice Cream Parlor in Sacramento and served others her home-cooked foods and delicious homemade ice cream as well. She worked in the Carmichael DMV in the late 1980's and had previously worked as a personal assistant to the Dean at Kent State University's Ashtabula, Ohio campus. Having grown up in Indiana during the depression, Dorothy worked tirelessly and was passionate about pretty much everything she put her mind to. For the past 15 years she and husband, Harold, lived full-time in their RV and traveled the western United States, Mexico and Belize making friends, telling colorful stories and putting smiles on people's faces wherever they went. She loved to play cards - especially rummy and pinochle. During her younger years Dorothy loved to dance and sing and performed in the Green Door Follies in Ashtabula, Ohio. While we are comforted to know that Dorothy had a strong faith in Jesus and is resting peacefully in his arms (and probably talking his ear off), we are sad to see her go and will miss her dearly. A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held for family and friends in Sacramento, California on June 21, 2015. Details will be available soon. Keep checking this website for an update . In Dorothy's memory, the family encourages donations to the Alzheimer's Association so that further research can be done to find a cure for this horrible disease. June 21st is ""The Longest Day "", a national fundraiser to raise awareness for Alzheimer's. Please visit Alzheimer's Association (ALZ.org) for more information.
