Doris Rae Edmunds

December 10, 1922 — September 18, 2017

Doris was born in Los Angeles at Clara Barton Hospital December 10, 1922. She was a premature baby, weighing only 1 3/4 pounds, the only girl with two older brothers with a mother who wanted a daughter very much. As it turned out they were not only to be mother and daughter, but best friends. Mom was shy as a child and Grandma thought a good way to outgrow the shyness was dancing class. Her teachers were a quite well known vaudeville couple called Dottie and Daddy Mac. Several now well-known movie stars furthered their careers with lessons from the Macs. Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, Shirley Temple and our Mom Doris Rae Greene. Mom never quite outgrew the shyness, but did manage to hide it well. Doris was active in Eastern Star as Worthy Matron (1972) and Rainbow Girls as Mother Advisor. She was awarded the Grand Cross of Color from Rainbow Girls for helping to begin a new Chapter while in Japan. Doris' kind demeanor aided many Rainbow Girls and she truly cared for them all. But we, her daughters, Diane, Jackie and Barbara were the most fortunate of all. From her, welearned what was important and how to implement those lessons in our own lives.
