Diane Marie Carroll November 29th, 1951 - September 23rd, 2017 Born to parents Martha Jane Addison-Carroll and John William Carroll in Santa Monica, California, Diane was the fifth of ten children in an Irish Catholic family. Her siblings Kathleen, Edward, Marlene, and Neil preceded her, and Janet, John, Joseph, David and Marti followed her. Diane graduated from Rancho Cordova High School in 1969, and went on to receive a Bachelors Degree in English from California State University Sacramento. It has been said that perhaps one of the greatest tributes to Diane are the children she shared with the world, Leah, Clair, Allison, Alexander, and Elaine respectively. She was a sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, scholar, poet, artist, astronomer, bibliophile, gardener, and friend who had many great loves within her life. Because of this, she leaves behind an imprint within all of us, forever apart of the plants, planets, and stars she loved so deeply. She will live on in our hearts, bodies, and minds; in our words, gestures, and in the earth that created and sustained her. She will live on in the determined fighter, diligent worker, handy woman, and beach babe. Diane made a career as a legal secretary for nearly thirty years and was admired for her great intelligence, warmth, and independence. Just a five short months before her death she retired from Sacramento County Public Defender’s office. She taught the world unconditional love and acceptance. Diane endured chronic illness and a recent diagnosis of cancer, a tragic ending to an otherwise luminous life. She passed away resting and warm surrounded by loved ones. Diane leaves behind countless friends, cousins, in-laws, and four wonderful grandchildren Paige, Giulia, Gianluca, and Marco who simply did not get enough time with her.
