Colleen Patton was born on October 2, 1931 in Afton, Oklahoma to Isaac and Lola Barnes. The family migrated to California when Colleen was a young teenager to find work and ended up in Madera, California. There she met and married Elzy Patton, Jr. at the tender age of 18 years old. They had two children Larry Patton and Mary Patton (Tinsley). She worked as a teacher's aide in the school district for 27 years where she was loved by all the children she worked with. When she was out shopping many of her students(now grown) , who remembered her from their school days, would stop her and talk with her. Everyone always would say you still look the same as you did twenty years ago. She also owed a shop in old Sacramento called Amies Attic where she sold Hummel's and collectible dolls. She loved to have people over for dinner, the youth director, the Pastor and family and many others. She had a close connection with the youth group that was at her house on many occasions. Her pot roast was the best around. She loved her church and church family and was a dedicated worker in the church from being an AWANA worker to a Nursery worker and many, many other areas of service. She had a kind and gentle soul. She loved her dogs Dakota and Lil Bit. She treated them as if they were her kids. She is survived by her son and his wife Larry and Donna Patton of Roanoke, VA and her granddaughters Jessica Patton of New Orleans and Alisa Patton of New York City and her daughter and her husband Mary and Rick Tinsley of Sacramento, CA. and their sons Stephen Tinsley of West Sacramento and Matthew Tinsley and his wife Melonie and great grandkids Olivia and Nathaniel Tinsley of Florida. The family thanks you for all your prayers, cards and loving support. We are sad that she has left us but we rejoice that she is with our Lord and Savior in Heaven.
