Cynthia Kroeger

March 21, 1946 — March 22, 2021

Cynthia P. Kroeger, MSN, JD March 21, 1946 - March 22, 2021 Sacramento, California - Cynthia Panciera Kroeger, beloved registered nurse and attorney, died of advanced pancreatic cancer Monday March 22 2021 at her home in Fair Oaks, California with her adoring husband by her side. A lifelong learner who loved nature, Cynthia was born Cynthia Mary Panciera on March 21,1946, to Antonio and Josephine (Pochini) Panciera in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. She graduated from Stafford High School, where her classmates remember her as having had the best pajama parties as well as being on the Executive Committee of the yearbook. After working for a year, she enrolled in the Grace-New Haven Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a registered nurse in 1968. A year after becoming a nurse, Cynthia enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era. She was stationed for two years at Beale Air Force Base Hospital in Marysville, California where she was promoted to 1st Lieutenant. As Beale was close to both the mountains and the ocean, Cynthia took full advantage of the natural beauty of California. After leaving the Air Force, Cynthia moved to San Francisco, a city she loved to explore, and worked as a nurse at San Francisco General Hospital's Mission Emergency Room. Her interest in legal aspects of nursing and health care led Cynthia to complete a bachelor's degree at St Mary's College in Moraga, California. Cynthia moved to Sacramento to work for Medicaid in the fraud division. Her interest in the law led her to enroll in McGeorge Law School, where she excelled in debates, graduating in 1988. Cynthia thrived in her second career working as an insurance defense attorney, representing insured's in claims related to injuries. It was during this time that she met her best friend, soul mate and husband, John Kroeger. She enjoyed this work so much that after retirement, she continued to work as an independent consultant up to the time of her death. She was a volunteer at Dignity Health Hospice, bringing warmth and caring to the families she worked with. Ever a nature lover, Cynthia walked miles every morning, chatting up neighbors and visiting with the dogs they walked. She enjoyed yoga classes and retreats and worked out regularly. Friends described her as 'small in stature but large in personality and knowledge' and 'a wonderful, beautiful soul.' They felt blessed to know her. While Cynthia was an extremely accomplished woman, she never let it go to her head. She was simply a beautiful person, wife, stepmother and friend to all who knew her. In addition to her loving husband, John, Cynthia leaves behind her sister, Joanne Mitchell, stepson John Kroeger, Jr., stepdaughter Renee Kroeger, and treasured friend, Joan Edelstein. She will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank and express their gratitude to the cancer section nurses at Sutter Roseville Hospital, as well as the nurses and staff at Sutter Hospice. Their caring and compassion was beyond description. A memorial celebration of Cynthia's life will be held Monday, April 5th at 1 PM at Sierra View Funeral Chapel in Carmichael, CA. Please note that COVID restrictions will apply. A private interment will be at Fair Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the cancer relatedcharity of your choice.
