Columbus Craig Morris May 6, 1962-March 18, 2020 It is with heavy hearts to share the news that our dear Columbus Craig “CeCe” Morris passed away unexpectedly March 18, 2020 from a suspected heart attack in Sacramento, California. We are saddened that he is no longer on this earth with us, but his spirit is strong, and we find comfort in knowing that he is with God, the angels in heaven and with dear family and friends who have departed before him. Craig was born in Denver, Colorado at Porter Hospital to Sally Ulibarri and Columbus King Morris on May 6, 1962. He along with his mother and siblings, Selina Morris and Royce Ulibarri moved to Daytona beach, Florida in 1973 where Craig graduated from Mainland Senior High School in 1980. Upon graduation, Craig moved to California to live with his Aunt Penny and Uncle Chuck Olesky and his cousins, Jade and Quinn. He attended CSM and started working for Safeway in 1980. Craig became a Produce Manager for Safeway and retired in 2018. Craig was a loving and proud father to Dagney Garcia-Morris and always encouraged her in her studies at UC San Diego. After leaving Safeway, Dagney encouraged her dad to volunteer and he took her advice with enthusiasm! At the time of his death, Craig was a volunteer for Loaves & Fishes, the VA and the Sacramento SPCA. He had also just adopted a new cat, Riley, who has now adopted Dagney as his own. Craig loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, hiking, collecting rocks and other interesting things he would find during his travels. He was always curious and enjoyed engaging in philosophical discussions with friends and people he just met. His smile was contagious and never changed from when he was a happy baby to a grown man. As in life, Craig was a giver – a kind word to complete strangers, an amazing listener, a loving father, son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, friend and, in death, an organ donor. May his joy of life live on in others. Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, we plan to gather together with Craig’s family and friends to celebrate his life at a future date. We will update this information as soon possible. We ask, in lieu of sending flowers, please consider sending a donation in Craig’s name to Loaves & Fishes, Sacramento VA Medical Center or Sacramento SPCA or to your favorite charity. Craig’s family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from friends these past months. We would love to continue hear from you – please consider sharing your favorite memories of time spent with Craig here. If you would like to personally connect with a family member, please reach out to his cousin, Jade Dahl at jadeodahl@scbglobal.net.
