Clare Alice Dendinger passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024, in Roseville, California. A memorial service will be held on October 2nd, 2024 at 11am at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Granite Bay, California.
Clare was born on June 18, 1946, in Minot, North Dakota to Victor and Alice Haugen. Clare was the youngest of four children. She attended Berthold High School, Minot State Teachers College, and graduated from North Dakota State University in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics.
Clare met the love of her life Jack Dendinger of Minot, North Dakota in 1965 and the two married in 1967. Jack's time in the service eventually relocated them to California where they called home. Clare obtained her master's degree at Sacramento State University in Food and Nutrition in 1993. She was a Professor at Sierra College in Rocklin, California where she taught for 20 years, retiring in 2012.
After retirement Jack and Clare loved to travel. Some of Clare's favorite places to visit were England, Europe, Scandinavia, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and various places across the United States.
For over 50 years Clare was a member of the American Association of Family Consumer Sciences. After retirement she became deeply involved in the Assistant League of Auburn helping people in need. Clare was also involved in the Sierra College Patrons Organization helping college students obtain scholarships, food for their dorm, and helping to raise funds for student benefits.
Clare thoroughly enjoyed entertaining her friends and family at her home, both in Fair Oaks and Roseville. She especially loved hosting Easter gatherings with close friends. Clare loved to do scrapbooking and was an avid artist creating glass art for her friends and family.
Clare is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 57 years Jack Dendinger, her sister Christine Shipton of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many great friends.
Clare is preceded in death by her parents Victor and Alice, her sister Shirley Larsen of Montana, and her brother Ed Haugen of Minot, North Dakota.
Clare will be always loved and greatly missed by many friends and family.
