Winfred Wayne Merchant drove his Mack Truck and picked up Charlotte Idell Smith at5:15 am10/16/17 and took her back to heaven with him. She was born in Lakeport, Iowa on 8/21/21 to Clinton and Ollie Pattee Wilkins. She had an older sister of 10 years Iva McKee (6/28/11-8/27/2010). Their Dad was a conductor on a horse drawn trolley. A large family group caravanned to California in 1926 when times got hard.and job were hard to get. Many stories were told of this trip with very large cars with all their worldly goods.. She attended many schools in the area. Yettem, Elderwood (Woodlake) and Exeter. She worked as a teen in several packing houses for a short time where she met Winfred Wayne Merchant who passed 9/14/64..(He owned Merchants Trucking Corp after moving to Sacramento, Calif) They had one daughter Bunnie Merchant. Four grandchildren Jay (Cindy) of Orangevale, Bobbe (Jose) of Yuba City, Stacie of Carmichael and Wayne of Sacramento. She was delighted to have 10 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was always excited to see them whenever she could. She also had numerous nieces and nephews whom she talked about all the time. She will be buried with her parents at the Presbyterian Church in Woodlake District Cemetery11/2/17 at 1 pm. Joyce McKee Marlin (nieces husband will be saying a few words for grave side services. He was one of her favorites and enjoyed seeing him when she went to Woodlake and Visalia. She loved to be with family on her Birthday, Christmas and Thanksgiving.
