Cecil Leroy Wiard, age 89, passed away peacefully the morning of Saturday, November 14, 2020 with family at his bedside. Cecil was born in Alameda California to Clifford Leroy and Pearl Lucile Wiard, and grew up in nearby Oakland with his brother Thomas and sister Bonnie. He attended Castlemont High School the entered the US Army in July 1952 and served in the Korean War from 1952 – 54 as a sergeant. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. Upon returning from service he returned to his hometown. He then met his wife, Jessie Marie where they soon moved to Fremont, California and started a family. Cecil is survived by his children, David Alan, Julie Marie, Richard Matthew and Vickie Anne and his six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Cecil was a dedicated husband and father, played baseball, enjoyed camping with the family, coached and umpired Little League baseball, active in his church and a Commander in its Royal Rangers organization. He made his career as an engineer in the electronics field. Upon retirement Cecil and Jessie moved to the Sierra Foothills of California. A private service will be held Carmichael, CA on December 9 th . Graveside service with Military Honors will be held the following day at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, CA. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the services will be limited to the immediate family.
