Catherine Beatirce Mcgary

In Loving Memory of Catherine Beatrice Evers McGary February 21, 1923 – May 19th, 2017. Catherine passed peacefully with the love and support of her entire family. Catherine was raised in Sacramento, graduating from Sacramento High. She was one of the first Navy Waves. She was proud of her large family of 9 siblings. She and her 4 sisters were Sacramento’s first Twirlers, marching in local parades with their father’s Shriner Band. She met the love of her life, Roy McGary, at the California State Fair. She said it was love at first sight. They had been married for 69 years when Roy passed away—and her heart was broken. Catherine was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Family meant everything to her. She had a huge heart, wonderful smile, and made friends wherever she went. She was an amazing cook, often hosting our large family gatherings, a fine seamstress, quilter, and crocheter. She made scarves every winter for the homeless, crocheted hats for young kids receiving treatments, and donated to Wounded Warriors and Meals on Wheels. She is survived by her four loving children: Keith McGary (wife Cindy), John McGary (wife Debbie), William McGary, Laura McGary Crone (husband Peter); her eleven loving grandchildren: Amy McGary, Emily McGary, Jesse McGary, James McGary, Dennis McGary, Ashley Crone, Natalie Crone, Sean Laney, Kristi Cousins, Stephen Sparks and Tedra Sparks Georgeson; and her seven loving great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her three loving sisters Eileen Evers Lack, Marge Evers Steffano and Lorene Evers Escott; brother-in-law Ray Escott, sister-in-law Sharon Evers, and more than 50 nieces, nephews, grandnieces/nephews. We will all miss Catherine, but will hold our memories close to our heart. The funeral will be held at Sierra View Funeral Chapel, 6201 Fair Oaks Blvd., Carmichael, CA 95608 at 10:00am on Thursday, May 25th.
