Carole Jean “Essy” Short died of Renal Cell Carcinoma Sunday, May 16th, 2021. Born February 1941, she lived 80 wonderful years. She has ninesiblings and a mother to sixchildren Theodore Marino, Cindy Marino Rangel, Alan Marino, Larry Archuleta, Randall Archuleta and Mark Marino who died in 2011. She has a countless number of grandchildren asshe was called Gramma Carole by almost everyone. Carole is a proud member of the Turtle Mountain Chippewa tribe on her mother’s side and Little Shell Chippewa tribe on her father’s side. She lived and was raised in North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Oregon and California. She also spent parts of her life in New Mexico, Arizona and Washington. Being the child of a farm worker took her to many beautiful places in her childhood. She settled in Sacramento California for most of her life. She had a career in the clerical field. She worked as a secretary, clerical assistant and also seasonal positions with the franchise tax board. She enjoyed visits to the casino to play Duece's Wild and Jacks or Better. She loved reading books and playing mahjong on her tablet and computer. Visiting with family meant the world to her. She also would take 1-2 mile walks regularly to browse the local thrift stores. She will be truly missed and will always be remembered in the highest regards. We love you Gramma Carole. Services were held at Sierra View Funeral Chapel on Thursday May 27th11:00-1:00PM, followinga Celebration of Lifewith family and friends gathering at the home of Randy & Juna in Rancho Cordova.
