Camil Antoinette Skipper

June 13, 1968 — April 30, 2024

June 13, 1968 – April 30, 2024

Camil Antoinette Skipper passed away peacefully at her home in Antelope, CA
surrounded by her family and loved ones after a courageous fight against cancer. She
was born on June 13, 1968 to Eartha Skipper. Camil was raised by her grandparents
Johnnie and Bessie Skipper in Fairfield, CA.
Early in life, Camil decided she would serve in the public sector. To achieve her goal,
she earned a B.S. from Georgetown University and her Law degree from U.C. Davis.
While at law school she was a member of the Davis Law Review.
In March of 1995, Camil began her career as an Assistant United States Attorney for the
California Eastern District office with the Department of Justice. In 1997, she left the
department and briefly clerked for Judge Damrell. She returned to the department in
2009. In 2011, she became the Chief of Appeals and Training Coordinator where she
mentored the new criminal assistant attorneys. She enjoyed helping people to reach
their highest potential in both their personal and professional life.
Camil had a passion for Black art and artists. She owned many one-of-a-kind art pieces
and proudly displayed them in her home. If you asked Camil about her art, she would
happily tell you the story or meaning behind the art.
In 2008, Camil was blessed with two children, Jonathan and Ma’Niah. Her children were
her pride and joy and her unwavering love for them was a testament to her nurturing
spirit.
She is survived by her children Jonathan and Ma’Niah. Her uncle Woody (Beverly);
Aunt Janice; cousins, Charnette (Michael), Aaron (Ronnisha), Yvonne, Kevin, Monique
and Kimberlee (Nigel). Camil was preceded in death by her mother, Eartha Skipper and
her grandparents, Bessie and Johnnie Skipper.
Her intelligence, spirituality, and generosity left an everlasting mark on our lives, and her
absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Parkside
Community Church, 5700 S. Land Park Drive, Sacramento, CA 95822. A repast will be
held immediately after the service.
The service will be live streamed on the Parkside Community Church website:
