Brian Keith Newell passed away on March 6, 2024 at age 80 at Sacramento Kaiser Morse Hospital from complications of congestive heart failure.

Brian Loved running, especially with his Thursday night Napa running club, and bicycling and golf, especially with his brother Bob and cousin Dennis in Carmichael.IN his youth in Napa, he played baseball in the Babe Ruth League and for Napa High, usually as a pitcher or shortstop, as well as lettering in basketball for them.

With his teaching credential from Chico State, he taught elementary school in Chico, Vallejo, and Napa and voluntarily coached kids in sports. Later in life, he became an accountant and ‘tax man’ in Sacramento, always happy to hear from clients and answer tax questions.

Brian loved his high school reunions, the Napa High Class of ‘61. Traveling with his wife Jean to Mendocino, Sonoma, and Ashland to visit dear friends, and South Dakota to discover family roots which were important to him, too.

Watching the Giants, Kings and the Masters golf games were activities he enjoyed as well as, in recent years, meeting up with his cousins Dennis and Ralph for monthly breakfast get-togethers.

He was predeceased by his mom Carrie Bonifacio Newell and his dad Ralph ‘Bud’ Newell as well as his brother Bob and Nephew Chance and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by wife Jean, his sister Celia (Mark), his sister-in-law Penny (Bob) and his many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. He cherished his friends, many who were lifetime friends.

Brian’s quiet manner, beautiful smile, athleticism, sense of humor, and caring ways will not be forgotten.
