Boyd Merlin Smith (Smitty) June 9, 1932 - September 7, 2020 We are sad to announce the passing of a great man.Smitty is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jacque, and his children Cindy Smith-Noyes (Bruce), SandyAllen (Bruce) and Trent Smith (Jane).He waited a long time to be a grandpa and loved Spencer, Paige, Teagan, Kent and Evan very much.He is survived by his sister Janet Cain (Darrell), his two nephews as well as cousins throughout Eastern Washington. Smitty was born in Spokane, Washington although he spent his youth in Bremerton, Washington, and on the farm in Spangle. He proudly achieved Eagle Scout in the BSA.He joined the Air Force where he was stationed in Korea and Japan. He enlightened his family with his many escapades over the years. Smitty had a lifetime career with GMAC, which took him and his family to live in Washington, Montana, Alaska and eventually settled in Sacramento, California in 1971. He was known for his great sense of humor, sharp wit and kind compassionate nature.He enjoyed painting and he was a creative carpenter who left a legacy of children’s furniture and toys for his grandkids.Smitty loved traveling with Jacque. They experienced many adventures both in the US and abroad in their RV.In later years, they joined the Draggin’ Wagon RV group and made lifelong friends. His four-legged friend, Gus is missing him along with all of us. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who took such good care of Smitty.In addition, the Sutter Health Hospice was an amazing support to Smitty and our family.
