In Memory Of
Boonmee “Bonnie” Pacheco
May 10, 1942 – February 12, 2023
Boonmee was born in the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand, in a village in the province of Minburi. She was the youngest of two brothers and four sisters.
In 1974, she married Lee Pacheco of Hilo, Hawaii. Together they raised four children, whom they were extremely proud of and loved beyond measure.
She is survived by her three daughters and son; Lamied (Steve), Somchai, LeeAnn (Fred), Amanda (Chris), three grandchildren; Alicia (Talent), Mariana (Henry), Nico, two great grandchildren; Wyatt and Isaiah.
She lived most of her life in the United States but visited her family in Thailand often. While in the U.S., she worked as a cook for over 30 years in Hawaii, North Dakota, and California.
Those that knew her, will remember her for her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, and amazing cooking. Her hospitality was one-of-a-kind. She always made guests feel welcome.
In her life, her hard work and perseverance got her through challenging times and tough decisions. Even through those times, she had a seat at the dinner table for you and a smile that lit up the room. She loved to share her Thai culture, go bowling, play bingo, and tell her favorite joke.
“Why did the turkey cross the road?” she would say with a giggle. “Because it wasn’t chicken!” she would answer with a laugh like it was the first time she told the joke.
Even at the end of her walk with Alzheimer’s, some things still rung true. Her love of animals, yellow, and of course her friends and family.
The family of Boonmee Pacheco would like to thank you for your love and support.
If the need calls to you, instead of flowers or gifts, the family ask that a donation be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California—a wonderful resource for families watching their loved one walk this journey with Alzheimer's.
