Beverly Ann McLaughlin

January 20, 1940 — April 4, 2025

Beverly Ann Ayer McLaughlin, age 85, passed away on April 4, 2025. She was born on January 20, 1940, in Chatfield, Minnesota, to Irene Karver. She was later adopted by Eugene Ayer and grew up in Chatfield, where she became an active member of her community. Beverly attended Chatfield Elementary and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1958. During her high school years, she was a dedicated participant in choir, the triple trio, band, majorette, and as a soloist.

After graduation, Beverly continued her education at Gale Institute in Minneapolis. She later pursued various career paths before eventually returning to her hometown. In 1965, she met the love of her life, David E. McLaughlin, and they married on February 6, 1965. Together, they had one son, Brian David, born on October 12, 1967. Tragically, David passed away on October 11, 1971, and their son Brian died on December 31, 1997.

In 1975, Beverly and Brian relocated to the Sacramento Valley, where they both attended American River College in Sacramento. Beverly went on to work for the State of California, starting at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) before transferring to the Department of Justice (DOJ), where she retired after many years of dedicated service.

Beverly had a deep passion for genealogy, which she began exploring in 1978. Over the years, she meticulously researched her family’s history and compiled several genealogies that she was proud to share with her loved ones.

Beverly is survived by her half-brothers Mick (Jean) Ayer, Rodney Ayer, Daryl Ayer, and Kenneth Monsrud, as well as her half-sister Linda Monsrud Curry. These siblings were discovered through DNA testing, and their connection brought new joy to Beverly’s life.

In keeping with Beverly’s wishes, there will be no public service or visitation. She will be cremated, and her ashes will be laid to rest beside her husband and son at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester, Minnesota.
