Bette Jane (Matranga) Himmelmann born May 14, 1927 passed on September 11, 2017. All through her life, Mom insisted it was “Bette Jane”. Mom was born, raised, and lived 99% of her life in the Sacramento area. Her Hero Husband (William “Bill” Edward Himmelmman, III – passed 1982) and her son, (William “Biff” Edward Himmelmann, IV – passed 2012) preceded her in death. Mom loved life, especially her family and friends--her parents, her husband and children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins, and the many friends she had through her devotion to Eastern Star and Tuesday Club. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved and the ideals she believed in. And she knew how to keep the confidences of others. She loved to give parties anywhere and anytime. Holiday and Wedding parties were her favorite. Being the owner of Bride N’ Formal gave her many opportunities. She was a girlie girl: gardenias were her absolute favorite flower and she looked for any and every opportunity to dress up in fancy gowns and tiaras. She loved the theater and acting and it was her big regret that she did not pursue an acting career. She worked hard all her life starting in her father’s restaurant business, later in her husband’s and son’s accounting practice and then later in the bridal business. She considered her one talent in life to be her excellent memory until Alzheimer’s took that from her. She was tough and strong till the end.
