Anita Hernandez Cantu
March 26, 1939 - January 15, 2023
Sacramento, California - Anita Hernandez Cantu, 83, went home to her Lord on January 15, 2023. She was born Anita Hernandez on March 26, 1939, to Manuel and Petra Hernandez in Taylor, Texas. Growing up a proud native of "The Great State of Texas", she moved to Gridley, California in the 1960s with her young family. After many years in the Yuba City/Marysville area, she lived in Santa Maria, California for 15 years before moving to Sacramento, where she lived for the past 27 years. She was a loving and faithful wife to Felix Todd Cantu Senior (deceased) for 34 years; mother to Kathy and Keith (spouse) Farnsworth, JoLynn and Keith (spouse) Crawford (deceased) and Felix Todd Cantu Jr. (deceased); grandmother to Noah Cantu, Luke Cantu, and Caitlin Bray (fiancé), and Samuel and Katey (spouse) Farnsworth, Emma Farnsworth, and Oleg Masnyy (partner), Maggie Farnsworth and Brandon Reza (fiancé); great-grandmother to Emma and Journey Newton, Ryder Cantu, and Ellie Mae Cantu.
Because of her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her loved ones left behind know the death of her physical body was just the beginning of her everlasting eternal life in heaven.
She is remembered by many as devoted, faithful, feisty, hard-working, and family-focused.
Anita had a diverse career in agriculture, education, and retail, but most remember the 30 years she worked at the California State Fair venue with her longtime friend, Teri Blakney.
She is proud of her Hispanic heritage and instilled in her family a love for homemade tamales and cooking authentic Mexicana cuisine for family and friends. She is best known for making the best homemade tortillas! She loved the cuisine at Rosa Blanca Mexican restaurant where she was a frequent patron. Besides cooking, she loved traveling, reading, bowling and cake decorating.
Even when she could no longer walk, she still danced. Even when her eyesight began to fail, she still watched NFL football, Dr Charles Stanley sermons and a variety of Spanish broadcast programs. Even when she had difficulty reading, she still read her Bible, spiritual devotions, and many books. Even when her memory began to fade, she never forgot her loved ones. Even when her physical strength waned, her hugs never lost their power. Through it all, she was an amazing "prayer warrior".
