Alta Rose Van Der Griff

January 17, 1945 — March 17, 2015

Ms. Alta Van Der Griff, age 70, a former resident of California and Arkansas passed away March 17th 2015 at Whitney Oaks Care Center in Carmichael CA. She was born in Biggers AR, a daughter to the late Estee Dorothy (Lucille) Riddle Van Der Griff of Missouri and Elmie (Durrell) Van Der Griff of Arkansas. She is survived by her two daughters Misti Dawn Crow and Brandi Lynn Freeman, her only sibling William Van Der Griff as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by a host of loved ones family and friends. Alta had many certificates from being a Certified Nurses Aid all the way to Early Childhood Education which became her passion. She loved working with children primarily infants. She had many jobs with children from Yard Duty to being a Daycare provider. She worked for the Phoenix School for many years and retired from Early Childhood Education in her early 60's. Alta was a lover of many things. She was a Baptist Christian who loved gospel music and Motown. She was a competitive bowler for much of her younger years bowling travel leagues, numerous tournaments and has left a legacy of pins, patches and trophies. Her highest game was a 298 at Camellia Lanes at the old McClellan AFB. She also loved to crochet afghans, garden and had the ability to make anything grow. She loved watching her daughter Misti in drama and her daughter Brandi sing, act and play different sports. She loved her grandchildren very much. To her they were everything. Funeral services were arranged by Sierra View Funeral Chapel's Funeral Director Thomas Eyre. The service was held on Thursday March 26th 2015 with officiating by Pastor Kelvin Tarver and burial following at the Sylvan Cemetery in Citrus Heights CA. May you rest in peace and live amongst the angels.
