After finishing Officers’ Training School, he headed back to Everett to marry Suzanne Kay Wicken. His military career took them to Germany, England, the Pentagon, Korea and back to the Pentagon where he retired as Lieutenant Colonel. As a Photographic Major in Graduate School, he took this passion overseas to develop photographic laboratories. His awards included meritorious service medal, joint service commendation medal, joint meritorious unit award, AF outstanding unit award, national defense Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf. He also received the Junior Officer of the year award. After his service career, Allan opened a picture framing store in Lynnwood, Washington at which time he served as the President of the Picture Framers Association, wrote a book on picture framing and for several years was published in six volumes. Allan moved to Sacramento in the late 80’s when he met and married his second wife, Nancy. Together they traveled the country as Allan pursued his love of photography documenting the beauty and treasures this country has to offer. He spent time at the Yuba City County Museum, categorizing and archiving their many historic photographs for posterity. Equally important to Allan was his love of trains. Ask him anything and he knew the answer. His nationwide ramblings always included Railroad Museums. He took this love to the drawing board and built an HO gauge layout in his 3-car garage in Yuba City, constructing all the buildings and creating the landscapes to set it up. His love of competition was evident overseas in the Royal Flush Photographic Competition. Stateside he entered picture framing contests.
